LG BD 390 Network Blu-ray Disc Player Best Quality

I was all set to wrestle with an all day techno-challenge, but hooking this player up to everything and using all features took about 15 minutes with minimal use of the quickie version directions. I had an HDMI cable already connected to my 46" from my standard DVD recorder and a wired connection to my XBOX 360. I just plugged those into the LG 390 and bingo, I was looking at a very user-friendly screen to netflix, the movie in the tray, youtube, and (to my surprise) files on my computer. To connect to Netflix, they give you a little code you must insert on line at your Netflix account. Still easy. I chose a variety of "watch immediately" free movies and put into my cue. There they all are when I clicked on the Netflix option on the TV's screen. Some looked a little grainy on my 46" screen, but some were in high def. Couch potato heaven.

The YouTube is a nice little bonus when you want to kill some time. Extremely easy to navigate, to surf, with comments or in full screen.

Then, there were my photo files on my computer to access and view on the big screen. And, I hadn't even loaded the software that came with it! It just automatically made them available. Even gives you transitions for a slide show. Music and movie files are also available apparently, but I did not have any on the computer.

I have only watched one blu-ray and 3 standard DVDs, but they all looked great. The standard DVDs looked upscaled significantly. I even tossed in a homemade disk with cruise photos music . . . worked fine. There were no skips, sound issues, or anything bad. No surprises, except the pleasant kind.

I'm sure there are things you can criticize on any product, but this one is a very user-friendly, couch tater's dream. Even the remote is a no-brainer. But, it won't operate any other equipment. That's okay. Universal remotes are rarely really completely universal anyway.

I chose the LG version rather than the Samsung version with the same features. Researching shows the LG got far fewer complaints. I also wanted the 7.1 analog sound connections for my Denon sound system.

LG BD 390 Network Blu-ray Disc Player Get it now!

Image quality is excellent. This unit is very fast at Blu-Ray's (reason why I bought it).

Menu system is a little lacking to my standards and can be just a tad laggy.
It also does a weird thing where it can get confused (hung) sometimes if too many buttons are pressed in rapid succession (only in the menu system or in internet enabled features).
802.11n gets drops / says it can't connect to Netflix frequently and I have a good router too.. but when I wired it up...everything is great.

So far..I really like this unit despite the small concerns.Get more detail about LG BD 390 Network Blu-ray Disc Player.

LG BD 390 Network Blu-ray Disc Player Right now

I bought this recently. Until then I had an older Sony DVD player that was going through a Sony STRDG920 7.1-Channel Audio/Video Receiver and the Sony was doing the up-converting. That worked well, in fact we were amazed at how good the DVD's looked when up-converted to 1080p and played on the V VIZIO VO37LF - 37" LCD TV - widescreen - 1080p (FullHD) - HDTV.

When I decided it was time to get a Blu-ray, I wanted something that could get movies from netflix since we rent from there. I purchased the LG BD 390 Network Blu-ray Disc Player from Amazon during one of its mark downs or sales or whatever.

I like this player. The up-conversion on DVD's looks as good or better than through the Sony, and I get to take advantage of netflix online streaming. I recommend wired connections though. The wireless worked but sometimes the speed would change due to some interference or other (this happens on the pc's once in a while too but its not as noticeable). I can't comment on Cinemanow because I don't use it. Netflix streaming is pretty cool though. I personally find YouTube a little useless and I wish the player had a better search interface for it, but it does work fine.

Blu-Ray disks look great and its nice to be able to use the DTS HD audio. The only thing I've found odd is with the Watchmen disk. There were some times when the audio was not sync'ed. Hitting pause then play worked around it. LG just came out with a newer software update which may fix that. I haven't had that problem with other Blu-ray disks. I'd like to see them add some more netcast features, maybe hulu and Amazon.

CD's sound great and if you leave the TV on, there is a pretty nice user interface for selecting tracks etc.

The LG bd-390 comes with a scaled down version of Nero media server. I've used that to look at pictures from our pc and some movies we recorded with an older sony cybershot. These worked well too although I'm really not much into slideshows.

All in all I would buy this again.Get more detail about LG BD 390 Network Blu-ray Disc Player.

After my wife bugged me for over a year, I decided to get a Blu-ray player to go with my 65 inch t-v and Bose music system. WOW! What a difference it makes. Not only are the movies MUCH clearer, I love the instant movies I can get from Netflix. The LG 390 is perfect. It was easy to set up, easy to use, and works flawlessly . If I had to buy another one, there is no doubt I would buy this LG BD 390 again. Cheapest LG BD 390 Network Blu-ray Disc Player

I wanted a BR player to go with the new bedroom TV since we could only watch BR movies downstairs on the PS3. I wanted Netflix streaming (we have Roku box downstairs) also, and was agonizing over this and the Samsung BDP-3600. After researching reviews and AV forums where real-world experiences were discussed in detail, I decided on the LG BD-390. I couldn't be happier with it -- Netflix and other internet streaming is flawless, and it also picked up my MediaTomb media server easily. Didn't try the wifi as mine is hardwired (I wired the whole house with CAT5 when we built it, so I have drops and small switches all over the house). We've only watched a couple of BR movies on it so far, but it seemed quiet and fast. Standard DVDs upconvert very well also. I think you can't go wrong with this model.Get more detail about LG BD 390 Network Blu-ray Disc Player.

Cheap LG BD 390 Network Blu-ray Disc Player

The only reason I didn't rate it 5 stars is because of the design. The player works great and was SO easy to set up. This is my first blu-ray player. The design issue has to do with the tray you put the disc in. It is flimsy and I feel like I need to be real careful when inserting a disc but I am happy with everything else. The picture is incredible on my Sony XBR6 HDTV when watching a movie in blu-ray.Get more detail about LG BD 390 Network Blu-ray Disc Player.

Order LG BD 390 Network Blu-ray Disc Player

Other than just being good at playing bluray and upscaling DVD movies, this system also has a very nice interface to your Netflix instant queue. I've got a 802.11g wireless access point (they recommend and support 802.11n as well) and the streaming quaiity is pretty good. It's got a "streaming quality" scale that comes up when you first load the show... if you've got 2/3's or better on the scale, it looks as good as a DVD to me.

I was also pleasantly surprised to see that it supports WPA2, the latest wireless encryption standard. The only problem with the wirless setup is that there is absolutely no way to enter upper case characters in your WPA key... so I had to change my access point password to all lowercase plus symbols and numbers to get it working. I had a mixed-case password that I now had to change on all my wireless devices. But, it was worth the trouble to be able to watch unlimited streaming content available from Netflix.Get more detail about LG BD 390 Network Blu-ray Disc Player.

Where To Buy LG BD 390 Network Blu-ray Disc Player

I am an artist and spend lots of time at home painting my projects. I also love to have the television on while I paint. Through a stroke of good luck, I recently got a 42" LG TV on clearance. When I realized I could instantly watch thousands of free Netflix DVDs with my membership, I ordered this disc player from Amazon because the price was the best I could find. I also picked up a wireless modem for my internet cable connection. I am retired and a woman. I hooked this whole thing up so easy I couldn't believe it. The delivery time was as promised and the service and products were of excellent quality. There are other brands of network disc players I could have picked up that were cheaper, and I am glad I didn't. LG BD 390 Network Blu-ray Disc Player

I wanted the Pandora feature on the Samsung BD3600,but noticed the poor reviews. I now notice on Pandora's site that they have an agreement with VUDU and VUDU is coming soon to the LG390. (Per the LG site) Here's a cut and paste from the VUDU site: To use Pandora on VUDU, simply use your existing account. If you do not have an account, you'll need to create one. Anything you can do on the Pandora website, you can do on VUDU.

So, I hope this means Pandora will work on the LG390. Anyone out there have any more details?

LG BD 390 Network Blu-ray Disc Player Review

Yes I agree that this player is very nice.
Great BD and DVD pictures on my 61 inch HDTV. Wireless and Nero step up was very easy.
I just don't like the front display. It just shows elapsed time. When playing CDs/DVDs/BDs it
doesn't even display the track info! The second major disappointment was the video streaming
support from my pc. I have lots of non-HD avi files from my mini-DV camcorder. But this codec
doesn't support it. So I can't stream my home video to it. Also, I have a new Canon SD 780 IS camera that takes HD video, not at the highest resolution possible, and this player doesn't support that either. What gives LG??? LG only supports full HD video streaming from the PC/USB. I can't believe I have to buy a full HD camcorder to stream video to it. The disc tray is very flimsy and the indentation for the disc is very shallow, so you have to be very careful that the disc is properly placed on the tray before closing the tray. Else the tray/disc gets jammed.
Just telling it like I see it. There is much that can be improved in this player.Get more detail about LG BD 390 Network Blu-ray Disc Player.

LG BD 390 Network Blu-ray Disc Player Top Quality

I have had this player for almost a month now and have no regrets with this purchase. We mainly use regular dvds and have had no no trouble with the download/conversion to 1080p. However, we do use a HDMI cable to ensure there are no conversion problems. We use a wireless router, so the picture quality for You Tube and Netflix can be a little bit off sometimes. Depending on what you watch and how good the original video/file is, you can barely notice the clarity issue. We have not set up the My Media function yet, however I am looking forward to doing so. Assuming it works as advertised, you can tap into your computer and look at pictures, video, or music on your tv via this dvd player. Overall - I love this player.Get more detail about LG BD 390 Network Blu-ray Disc Player.

LG BD 390 Network Blu-ray Disc Player Immediately

This is a good player and I truly like the video streaming feature as I can't think of a day that I don't use it especially with a yound child in the house. The disc picture quality is good, and as the price starts coming down, it will even be a better buy. I do have to caution though, the set up would be easy, if you have a Wireless N router. I had a five year old Wireless G router and for the longest time, I could not get the player to connect to the internet and Netflix. I finally realized that a Wireless N router is more suitable for video streaming, so in other words, I had to purchase a new router.

One needs to keep in mind that the video streaming picture quality will not be blu ray standard. Often times they are not as clear and may even be a bit fuzzy. Our HDTV does not seem to be able to improve the picture quality. This may have to do with the internet and Netflix, not necessarily the player itself. I believe Netflix is working to improve the quality, so hopefully it will get better.Get more detail about LG BD 390 Network Blu-ray Disc Player.

I had some problems with connection to my D-LINK DIR-655 router, but after updating the firmware in the router, the LG BD390 works great. The wireless connection works great. I've already watched several NetFlix movies on my Panasonic 50" Plasma. The picture quality is simply awesome. LG BD 390 Network Blu-ray Disc Player Get it now!

The picture and sound quality of the LG BD390 blu-ray player through our entertainment system is absolutely stunning. After inserting a blu-ray disc access time is very quick, which is often not the case with some blu-ray players.

One of the reasons we purchased a LG blu-ray player was for it's wireless (and wired) network capability so as to access media (video, pictures, music, etc.) on our home PC and to also access Netflix "Instant View" movies. Both of these as well as its other features are excellent. Another advantage of the LG player being on the network is its ability to update its firmware when an update becomes available.

All in all the LG BD390 is a great player and worth the money just for its network capability and access to Netflix "Instant Views" so you don't have to run out to the store to pick up a movie on a cold, rainy night. Use the time instead to pull up a movie, fix a nice hot cup of cocoa, pop a bag of popcorn and sit back and enjoy.

LG BD 390 Network Blu-ray Disc Player Buy Now

I recently received the LG BD-390 after a lot of research on various other BluRay DVD players. I was not so much interested in the WiFi capability as I knew I was going to used it wired to get the maximize throughput when streaming. Most of my research pointed me to this BD-390 for speed, picture quality and network streaming capability. The things I wanted most from this DVD player was the Netflix and network streaming of my home videos and pictures.

First impression on the video quality: Amazing. You will not be disappointed with the image quality on this thing. Simply amazing.

Setting this unit up was very, very simple (other than the Nero Software on my PC - more on that later). I was able to turn this player on, go to the NetFlix setup, tell it that I was an existing NetFlix customer, it gave me a code, I then use my laptop to visit [...] and activate it. Once I hit the submit button on [...] to activate my new device (DVD player), I look up at my screen, and the DVD player immediately starts to show my own Watch Instantly Movie Queue. Done! That simple.

I was then very interested in the video quality when streaming Netflix videos. I was not blown away, but it was very good. A SD Netflix movie looks good. A HD Netflix movie looks pretty good! However, I have not received "full" bars on the indicator that tells me my network connection. I am usually at 75% so you might get even better picture quality if you have a faster network (I am currently at 3-4Mbs.

I then tried a standard DVD disc to see what the upscaling looked like since I read some reviews that it even makes standard DVDs look good. I was a little skeptical at first, BUT WOW! Watching a standard DVD looks close to HD (not really but its SUPER detailed and clear - you WILL notice a huge difference from your old DVD player).

So - now for the downfall, it might not be a huge deal for you. I really wanted to easily stream videos/pictures/music from my PC to this DVD player (as it states is one of its features). It comes with Nero MediaHome 4.0 software which you need to install on your PC. The program will automatically detect your networked DVD player - which it does if you can get it installed. Installing it was bit of a challenge (had to reinstall, uninstall, gets Nero's Clean tool to wipe out all Nero products and reinstall). But I finally got it installed. I recommend just installing the Nero MediaHome 4.4 software from the Nero website and not the version you get on the CD. Although, to get your serial number you may have to at least start the install from the CD since it shows you your serial number on one of the first steps, but you can just copy it down and then cancel the installation and then use the downloaded setup. Anyway, the Nero MediaHome service was running and I started the software and it asked me if I would like to setup which folders I plan on sharing. I selected "My Pictures" folder which has thousands of pictures. It then starts the indexing process....simple enough...but then crash! The indexing hangs and I noticed the MediaHome service is no longer running (via Services in Control Panel). I attempt to simply restart the service manually and it tells me that the service cannot start and that the program was not installed properly and I need to reinstall. Now I am back to the uninstall, reinstall, Nero CleanTool hell. I finally get it back installed and I tell it to index a small subset of pictures and it completes. I go over to my TV and I can see the pictures from my DVD player. The interface to navigate the pictures/video is a little slow and clunky but seemed to work. Another issue - I am looking at a screen of thumbnails of my pictures on my DVD player and I see the small images. I select an image and I see my picture...looks great...nice and crisp. I then hit next to start going through the other pictures, and I get a big question mark (?) image for most of the rest of the images...like it can't find them. How can it find them to show me the small thumbnail image of my picture but not be able to show me the image. I am not sure if this is a Nero MediaHome issue or a LG-firmware issue. I then tried to add more picture and video folders to index....and BAM! The MediaHome service hangs...crashes and I am back to square one. Nero support is $[...] per minute which someone is a fool if they use. I just sent them an email on my first issue and they were helpful about the install problem. I have yet to ask them about this indexing/crash problem. So right now - this stream PC -> DVD player feature is useless - very disappointed.

So - in summary, I LOVE this DVD player - image quality is amazing! Netflix quality is very good! Other than the issue with the PC->DVD player stream you can not go wrong with this player.Get more detail about LG BD 390 Network Blu-ray Disc Player.
